THE BODY IS A STONE
The body is a stone dropped into the river.
Its sudden splash and the running ripples
will soon close over into stillness.
The mind that continues to emit its waves
does not fall into the same.
It may, with truth, open up a world of good,
with lies, establish evil instead,
or do both in some mixture of the two.
The onetime means of the mind does neither.
And after the splash it is seen no more.
